On to a New Season

It with a mix of sadness and hope that I write this post.

Springbrook Church has chosen to wrap up. We met as a church a couple of times over this past month, and while we have an AMAZING group of people and we really love doing church together, we've decided it's time to shut down Springbrook in order to really allow everyone to move on to what God has next for each of us.

The reason Springbrook is ending is simply because it's tough to maintain the momentum needed with a small group and we recognize that some of our members have been called to other places. There are no hard feelings and it's been such fun to be part of 'drama-free' church with everyone.

It has been a wonderful 5 years and the true gift has been the friendships and relationships that we've made and the opportunity to do church with such awesome people. It was a delight to collaborate on what church could be over this last season.

It was a true blessing to be able to work on community service projects together and we especially loved all the chances to give our money away!

We have officially held our last AGM and have decided to continue in supporting our students in Rwanda by having families continue the sponsorships. We will be giving any remaining funds away to the charity we discussed.

Some of us have decided to try out some new churches together and we will also be having a potluck this month as well. We're also still planning on celebrating Christmas Eve together at our Christmas Eve service at Milner Chapel.

I can't say enough how wonderful the experience of Springbrook has been for all of us. I am hopeful it will remain a happy and peaceful memory and that we can each take what we learned and loved about it to our new churches.

Summer is FLYING BY.....

Okay Springbrookers, is it just me or is summer FLYING BY?!?! Sheesh!

We have had some big changes and I know lots of you have had too (engagements! pregnancies! babies growing! jobs!) so it's about time to meet for a church event.

I am thinking of setting a picnic for anyone who can come. So the plan is:
Sunday, August 21st at 5pm. Meet on the grass part by the volleyball courts at Crescent Beach. Everyone pack their own stuff and we'll hang out and have some fun and catch up.

Happy 125th Birthday, Milner Chapel!

It's not often I can do a blog post that can be cross-posted on Langley Politics, our wedding chaplaincy site, and our church blog--but that's how important Milner Chapel is to our community.

Milner Chapel, the little white country church near Crush Cres. and Glover Road, is turning 125 this year. On Sunday, Milner will celebrate with a pancake breakfast at 10:30 a.m., followed by entertainment and ringing of the bells at 2 p.m.

The Chapel is a historic piece of Langley. I like to joke that the pioneers built it for $919.50, and 100 years later, it cost a few hundred grand to move it half a block. Moving the Chapel off of Glover was a monumental undertaking, but it completely renewed it.

For Springbrook Church, Milner Chapel has become synonymous with Christmas. Every Christmas Eve morning, we fill the chapel, sing carols, read the Christmas story and celebrate together. Christmas just wouldn't feel the same without Milner Chapel.

I love that little chapel. It's one of my favourite spots to perform a wedding ceremony, and I love telling this story when I marry couples there:

And what a perfect spot to get married—Milner Chapel. The story behind this old building is one of love—and practicality.

You see, in the early 1880s, a Milner farmer named Henry Davis wanted to marry a girl from back east named Elizabeth. Well, Elizabeth’s dad gave his approval, subject to one small requirement—Milner had to have a church of its own. After all, he couldn’t send his daughter to some barbarian town that didn’t even have a church!

So Henry got on his horse, rode around the Fraser Valley, and raised money to build a church. Singlehandedly, he raised $919.50 and a few years later, in 1886, Milner Methodist Church, led by Rev. RJ Wood, opened its doors. It’s been a local landmark ever since. Henry married Elizabeth, and their great-grandchildren still live in Milner. The Chapel was built for love—a perfect place for these two.

Congratulations, and much gratitude to the Milner Community Association, and tireless volunteers (I'm looking at you, Dot Mufford!) for their work to preserve the Chapel.

Creation Sunday Liturgy

This Sunday, June 12 is CREATION SUNDAY, where we look at this classic Springbrook value: "We value the adventure of freely connecting with God through His creation, and recognize that God has entrusted its care to us."

Tough to do that value indoors, so we will be meeting at 10 AM SUNDAY at WILLIAMS PARK in Langley (http://tinyurl.com/3zsjs4q). Meet us at the playground near the parking lot. If you have troubles finding us, call us at 604-340-9385.

You will be given some printed stuff (a guided experience that should take about an hour), and a few little things to guide you on a walk through the Park. (It's definitely stroller-friendly, and there's a park for the kids after.)

If you are so inclined, feel free to bring an MP3 player for some personal mood music, and even a chair if you're feeling especially reflective. And a picnic lunch if you want to enjoy the park too.

The walk can be done in groups or individually. It will be kid-friendly.

Easter Sunday

This week we will be having church (that's right- back to back weeks!) for Easter Sunday. We'll be celebrating the resurrection, the hope and the life it brings.

Jordan will be hosting and it will have an interactive and creative element and I think it'll be great!

Christmas Eve Giving

This Christmas season we raised some money to give away to some great causes. We gave $500 to help a family in Langley who have a daughter who is undergoing treatment for cancer. They were very touched and grateful.

We gave $500 to International China Concern. They sent us this great email and I wanted to share it-

Thank you so much for your church's kind gift of $500 towards International China Concern.

Psalm 27 v10 says ‘Even if my father and mother should desert me, you will take care of me. ‘

Attitudes to disability in China vary greatly. Recently one of our children was travelling to Changsha for cleft palette surgery and he was met with disgust by a member of the public. His International China Concern caregiver burst into tears on hearing the insult spoken to ‘her little one’. She told us how she had cared for him since he arrived at the centre several months earlier. She proudly explained how she had prepared him for surgery and reassured him that he was a very clever boy who would turn out to be a handsome young man. We are seeing more and more Chinese employees being raised up with a heart of love for the children and a genuine concern for their wellbeing.

The compassion of God moves Him to act on our behalf. I believe that He holds and loves these children, speaks words of encouragement and affirmation over them through the hands, heart and words of those He sends.

Thank you for supporting ICC. Please pray that all of our international volunteers and Chinese employees will be the hands, feet and messengers of God’s love and grace.

Our prayer is that you will recognise His touch, hear His voice and know His care in and through those He sends to you in your daily routine today.

Our Christmas party is this Sun, Dec 12 at 5pm.

It's that time of year again. Get out your reindeer hats and mittens. It's Christmas and we will be celebrating with friends, food, and festivities. The Springbrook Christmas party is coming to town... our town... at the Lacoste's... in Fort Langley(Bedford Landing). Be there, or Santa won't be happy.

After the d.v.d. there will be a short discussion on the theme for the evening. Possible themes: Practical Steps to Change the World, Un punishable, A Culture of Honor, From Paupers to Princes, and/ or d.v.d.'s from Bethel's night services.

I want this time to be important for you to learn something new about God and something new about yourself. To help you do this I will be giving each person who comes a journal, to jot down thoughts, questions or things that you want to discuss or keep to yourself.

House Concert

Dear Springbrookers,

You probably heard by now that we're having a house concert Monday night at 7.00 (leave when you need to) and we really want Springbrookers to come and bring a friend! The music is going to be great and it's going to have a real family atmosphere. Our daughter Jess is back in town to play a little and she has introduced us to two fabulous musicians from out east who are going to play also. One of Jon's songs was the top downloaded folk song on iTunes earlier this year, and you can hear him in our living room!

Introducing Jackson!

Sorry for the delay, it's been a heck of a week!!-
So happy to report the arrival of our little guy, Jackson Courage Bateman. He was born last Fri, Mar 19 at 12:37pm and weighed 9lbs 1 oz. He was 8 days overdue, but labour went lightning fast and he was born within 3 hours.

Because of fast labour and delivery he ended up with some wetness in his lungs. They ended up having to take him into the nursery for monitoring and we had to stay an extra 3 days. And although it seemed long and emotional, the nice thing was that they let me stay as well so we could be close to him and do the feedings. He doing well now and not showing any signs of stress and we're SO thankful!

They let us take him home on Tues afternoon and we're so thrilled he's here. Big sisters have been brilliant and we all think he's just too cute for words! Can't wait for you all to meet him!

Well baby Bateman has STILL not arrived yet, as of Thurs night. So he's officially a week overdue. Sheesh!!

We're planning on going ahead with HYMN SUNDAY this week. Mike has been preparing and it will work best if people come planning to contribute. We're talking about hymns, what they mean or how they have impacted us in the past. Please come with something to contribute and be part of a cool collaboration week.

Also, wanted to thank Springbrookers for their amazing generousity. This week we were able to contribute $1000 as a church to Sarah Harrington's missions trip to Rwanda this summer. She's so thankful and will have some amazing stories to tell when she gets back. I love that we get to be a part of it!

Murray Dueck- Part 2

Hi all
We're doing brunch at our place on Sunday the 28th. We'll do waffles, whipped cream and strawberries. And coffee, of course. It wouldn't be breakfast without coffee.

If people could bring bacon or a side dish or juice that would be great. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what you're bringing so it isn't too much of one thing although too much bacon is never a bad thing. Your new best friends, Annie and Indie, will thank you. :)

Winter Schedule

Here is a tentative schedule for the next few months. We have a few special things including an Easter Sunday service, one potluck a month and we'll be adding a 'Values' part to our services where we have someone choose one Springbrook value, share it and why it is important to them.

Since Jordan and I are planning on being BUSY in March with our little baby boy, we will need some extra help making sure services run as planned. If you're able to help run computers/ screens one Sunday please let us know. It's pretty easy and we would love to hand off and just attend if we're able without any additional responsibility.

Prayer Request from Georgia in the Phillipines!

Got this email from Georgia, who has asked for some prayer:

It has been a long time since I sent out a prayer update, and for that I am sorry!
I know that many of you are still faithful to pray for us even though I have gotten behind, and for that I am thankful. We can definitely feel your prayers.

Tribal War
Two days ago another tribal war started between Butbut and the Tulgao tribe. From what I can gather it was due to some drunk guys at a wedding getting in a fight. These things almost always seem to be caused by the actions of the drunk young men! A group of men from the Tulgao tribe ended up attacking a Butbut man on his way home from the wedding as revenge. Now the Butbut tribe has lifted the peace pact that was in place between the two tribes. So, everyone is fair game.
This really affects us here at the clinic because of course we are almost all Butbut. Achao can't go out by himself (or shouldn't rather) and our outreaches are currently on hold as we have to pass through Tulgao territory to get to the villages. Many of our patients are from the Tulgao tribe and I fear that they will not be coming to deliver here because they will be afraid.

There are many other ways as well in which this tribal conflict affects the work here.

-Please pray that some sort of peace pact will be reinstated
-Please pray that there won't be any lives needlessly lost

Loss of a Baby
We have also had a difficult week clinic-wise. A few days ago a woman came into the clinic in premature labor and within minutes delivered a severely deformed baby. We tried to resuscitate but the baby was not able to survive with all her deformities.

-Please pray for comfort and understanding for Tami (who was the midwife) and all the staff here
-Please pray for Nadine (the mother) and her family

Our Jalopy
Our clinic emergency vehicle has been breaking down once a week for the past few months. There have been times that we have needed it for an emergency and it just wouldn't start. ARGH! We are hoping to raise $10,000 for a better vehicle and so far we have almost half of that.
-Please pray that we would be able to buy a newer more reliable vehicle soon.

Praise Reports
There are also many wonderful things happening here at Abundant Grace...
-The Macad Family is expecting baby #2 in August! ... and a new house possibly in April!
-We have begun a small clinic expansion to make room for all of our patients.
-We have received another grant from Samaritan's Purse to continue advancing the work here.
-We have delivered over 450 babies to date!

BABY HAWTHORNE HAS ARRIVED!!

HOORAY! Most of us know already, but Chris and Robyn became proud parents to a little baby GIRL, Eleanor Adele Hawthorne. She was born on Monday, Dec 28th at 11:43am and was 8lbs 12.5 oz.

Birth went smoothly and mommy and baby are both doing well.

First of all, a BIG thanks to everyone who came and contributed to breakfast this week! It was a good time with a great turnout and we were happy to have our home stuffed full!

Our next service, which will be a Christmas service, will be on Sun, Dec 20 at 10am at Township Hall. Batemans and LaCostes are hosting with the theme of 'Rethinking Christmas". We want to talk about traditions, songs or other elements of the holidays that we had taken for granted in the past that have since come alive for us and helped us realize something new or fresh about God over the Christmas season. Start thinking about yours, because if we have time we have a bit of a discussion!

We'll also be lighting advent candles. Mike will be doing worship (chock full of carols) and Lesley will give an update about some of the exciting give-aways and things we're commiting Springbrook giving to over the next season.

It's going to be a great morning! Hope to see you all there!

PS- Still trying to organize things for Milner for Christmas Eve. Will post as soon as we know!

Merry Springbrook Breakfast

As discussed last week, next Sunday we will do a fabulously festive Springbrook Holiday Breakfast at Jenn and Jordan's place!

Since we don't have a potluck this month, this will be our official Christmas party. We'll eat, be merry and we'll also do some sort of Christmas or Advent type reflection together. It'll be great!

We'll do coffee and get a waffle bar going. We need people to bring fruit, juice, bacon, sausage and whatever else you can think of. Can everyone let me know if you're coming and what you can bring?!

Start at 10am with the plan to be done by noon so everyone can still do all of their holiday plans! Hope you can come!

Just a reminder that Springbrook Church resumes Sunday services at Township Hall THIS SUNDAY, September 13th! We have some great ideas and fantastic people- hope everyone can join us for 10am.

Sunday, September 13th is the day that I would like to meet with all who are available about our plans for a community dinner. Everything will be ready for you guys to make your way over to the Bateman/ Hawthorne home after our first autumn church service (please park at the front).

Please bring all your ideas and thoughts with you…

Lunch idea:
Church will provide drinks, buns and sandwich fixings, as well as some chips. If anyone wants to bring something that is fine, but they do not have to.

Meeting idea:
I would like to present all the ideas that I have had about this community dinner. Ideas will include presenting possible places, costs and partnership ideas as well as logistics, details and more. I can't do this on my own, I know that I need lots of help. I also know that our small church will need help to pull this off, but it is exciting to think about the possibilities of partnering with people and having faith that God is with us 100% and leading the way!

It’s going to be from 11 to 1pm. Scott’s going to be serving hot dogs and hamburgers and all of the fixings that go with it. We’ll do the drinks as well. If you can come (or even if you can't) I hope you'll join us in praying about what God's direction and plan for Springbrook is for year 4! I think we have an excellent community and I look forward to what could be ahead for us.

Bring lawn chairs/blankets, eating utensils and a picnic lunch for your family. Also , if anyone has Bocchi or any other lawn games please bring those along. We’ll have lunch together and stay as long as everyone wants to. I would appreciate if you could let me know if you’re coming or not. Come enjoy some good food (your own!) and great music with Chis Janzen and Jess Janz (before she goes away for the summer.) Chris has some new tunes and like fine wine, keeps get better and better!!! BBQ at 6.00, Music at 7.00 or so.

Springbrook Update

Hi Everyone-

I know we are meeting this week, but just wanted to update everyone on a few things.

1. This Friday is the day Andy and Helen's friends from YFC Rwanda will be here to do a bit of a presentation at Langley E Free Church (on 208th, by Newlands). They're going to talk about the school and the Elevation project, so it should be great. It starts at 7pm and I know they are really hopeful for a good turnout. Hope you can come!

2. We have decided to continue meeting as a church throughout the summer, every other week. However, after July 5 we won't be at Township Hall (until Sept). On Sunday I plan to have a sign up sheet and am going to ask Springbrookers to sign up to basically 'host' a week. So it can be a meal, hanging out, an activity, etc. It can be at your home, at the beach, at a park etc. Whatever! But you will organize it, tell people when and where and what to bring.That way Jordan and I still have the summer off of planning or organizing and we get to keep up our awesome Springbrook community. So take a look at your calendars and see where you could host.

3. Thanks to some of your who have already gotten back to me about if/how you're able to help out with the garage sale to support Langley YFC June 6. I plan to have ANOTHER sign up sheet on Sun for this so we can get our efforts organized.

4. I need to collect money this Sunday for Altar Boyz. Ticktets are $30 for 30 and under, $40 for 31+. This includes all taxes, service charge etc. This is the last week when I can add or delete tickets without penalty, so if you need to change your yes/no let me know. If you're not sure if you're on the list, just email me!

5. This Sunday we'll have Chris Janzen back to lead worship and Andy is speaking again, so it'll be another great week. Look forward to seeng you then!

YFC Garage Sale

Hi Springbrookers-

Danny and April are having a garage sale to support the work YFC is doing in Langley.

They're doing it at Langley Meadows school on Sat, June 6 from 9am-3pm. I have offered our help so I am hoping people can let me know if and how you would be able to pitch in!

Take a look and please get back to me.

What I need are:

-People to look through stuff at home and bring their contributions for the sale at 7:45am

-People with trucks or vans to help pick up bigger items the morning of the sale (like at 7:30/8am) and bring them to the school for the sale.

-People to help transport items from Ferguson's house to the school (7am)

-People to help set up at the school (7:30am)

-Tents that I can borrow in case it rains. Tables to use for putting items on.

-If people want to help during the sale roaming and talking with people and so forth, that's great.

-People to help with clean up at 3:00pm (this would also probably include people running some stuff to thrift store or dump afterwards)

Langley Meadows school is where we did the BBQ with YFC, it's just off 66th and 200th street.

Langley YFC Jazz & Java Fundraiser

We were lucky last week to have Danny Ferguson from Langley YFC with us.

We are really looking forward to some opportunities in the future to partner with all of the great work that they're doing in the community.

They are having a special eve coming up as fundraiser and a chance to hear about what they're doing. From Danny:

Elevation Project Presentation

We are really looking forward to having Brad, Kiki and Oliviana Burnfield here from May 19th - 23rd. Brad and Kiki are workers with Rwanda YFC, Brad being the Principle of the school we work with in Kigali and Kiki coordinating the child sponsorship program. They are also hugely lovely people!

On Friday May 22nd at 7pm at Langley E Free church, Brad and Kiki will be doing a presentation about the school and the work there and we’ll be sharing more about our future plans for the Elevation Project. We’d love to see you there. It’s an open invitation to everyone so please can you can pass it on and invite friends? There is no charge but there will be snacks and an offering for the project as well as a chance to become child sponsors. No pressure though :)

Springbrook Ladies Prayer Night and Get Together

As announced on Sunday we are having a get-together for the Springbrook gals on Friday, April 24 at 7:00. It will be a night of hanging out together with dessert, getting to know each other better and ending the evening with a time of prayer. Trudy and I will provide dessert. If you would like to bring a finger food or something savoury feel free but there is no pressure.

My address is #6 – 9208 208 Street. The name of the complex is Churchill Park. Pull up to the big white gates and call me from your cell phone – 604-888-7808. If you don’t have a cell with you then go to the gate phone and dial 221. After the gate opens you can drive in and park in the parking area on your right (across from our unit) or go around the corner to your left where there are more parking slots.

It would be great if I could know how many are coming but if you forget to RSVP, come anyways.

And it will be a 'family service' incorporating the kids as well, so we are keenly aware of ensuring the service is both reflects on the importance of Jesus' death and focuses on the power of His resurrection in a way we can all take to heart.

Group Outreach Ideas

I thought I would make a post here to get some ideas turning in your heads....

As a church we believe passionately in empowering people to recognize and see God at work in their own lives, areas of influence and ministry. I love that when we come together to worship or hang out or have church that we can share stories and experiences and offer support and encouurgaement. It is, in fact, my favorite part of Springbrook.

But, in addition to people seeing God at work in their own lives, one of the things that we wanted when we created Springbrook is the opportunity to work on service or community outreach projects as a group. We have done some in the past (Cruise In, Relay for Life, Fire and Ice, Langley Meadows YFC etc etc) but I think we need something new!

So this is my request to all of you to get some suggestions together. If you know of a charity group, organization, person who could use the help of group, let me know! We want to work together on an outreach project at some point this Spring. Feel free to email me with any ideas (jenn@jordanbateman.com) or let me know on Easter Sunday.

Just wanted to say a HUGE congratulations to Eldon and Kim who got ENGAGED this week and will be tying the knot this summer!
This is such exciting news for an amazing couple who are, clearly, very much in love. We are all so excited for you both and look forward to the amazing life together that is ahead.

Because two of the things I love most are a night out and a good laugh, I am SO looking forward to Springbrook's night out at Altar Boyz at the Granville Island Stage.

Just called to get the info and we are all set for Saturday, June 27 for the 8pm show.

We'll be going as a group and the tickets are $30 each for people 30 and under and $40 for people 31+ (I know, WEIRD age pricing.....) We'll have great seats, all together. And the price DOES include all taxes, service charge etc.

It's worth it to come just to see the Hawthorne boys fall off their chairs in fits of laughter....

I need to get to them with a number by March 27 and will be putting down a deposit/ reserving based on that number. If you know you're able to come please let Jenn know by emailing jenn@jordanbateman.com (or tell me on Sunday and make sure I write it down!)

Friends are welcome. I will be collecting the money by May 27th (as that's when they charge us in full).

1st Annual Springbrook Bowl-O-Rama

Springbrook will be holding it's First Annual Bowl-O-Rama on Sunday, Feb 8 at 3:30 at Willowbrook Lanes.

There will be some serious competition, prizes for best technique and we will keep it interesting with some added challenges! All to be follow up by pizza supper at Jenn and Jordan's place.

Cost is $10 per adult, $5 per kid (and they get to bowl with bumpers!), including pizza.

Join us for some bowling good times and see Jordan's mad bowling skills (not really).

Everyone was so flexible and easygoing about the change in venue. It is so much fun being with such a great group of people.

Dec 7- Jordan has been filling his head all week with festive cheer themed ideas for Sunday! We're going to be having a very cool service with some different elements. It will be family-friendly and we hope to have you all there to join it!

Dec 21- Nothing much to say about this week except that I plan to make Andrew play Christmas carols allllllllllll morning because I know he loooooooooves it. He he he. It will be fun and festive and Mike will be speaking!

Dec 24- We HAVE booked our lovely Milner Chapel for our Annual Christmas Eve Service at 10am. We're planning carols, candles and other Christmas-y content. If anyone has any ideas or something they might like to contribute, please call Jenn or email jenn@jordanbateman.com.

Just wanted to take a quick moment to share that Springbrooks' own Jordan was re-elected to Langley Township Council tonight! And not only did he win, but he was re-elected in FIRST PLACE, a huge 1300+ votes ahead of the second place councilor!

Much Overdue Update

So, at Springbrook we have had quite a few great weeks together! Church remains delightfully low key and yet we have seen God show up faithfully.

Just wanted to offer a reminder that we are doing a clothing drive for adults clothing (men and women) that is in good condition to give away to some of the clients at my work over the holiday season.

Please look through your closets and bring what you have for our next service, Nov 23. If you have any friends or family who are able to make a contribution, GREAT! Feel free to bring it along too!

Also, the YFC fundraising dinner is scheduled for Fri, Nov 21. We are so lucky to have Andy and Helen and their family as part of the Springbrook family! If you'd like to go to offer support, to hear what they have going on or just take part in a great night, this is the last week to get your tickets! Please email Andy (andyhar@shaw.ca) for tickets.

Finally, a reminder that THIS SATURDAY, Nov 15 is the municipal election. So go out and cast your vote sometime between 8am and 8pm. And then join us for the post-election festivities!

Just a reminder that Sunday, Sept 28 is going to be a BBQ potluck at the Harringtons place in Walnut Grove!

We'll head up right after church. Andy and Helen will provide hamburger and hot dogs, everyone else is asked either a salad/side OR a dessert (please just email Faith: faithb@telus.net this week and let her know what you'll bring so we don't end up with 10 of the same). And also, everyone should bring drinks!

If anyone has something that needs to be refrigerated we can put it in the fridge at the Presentation Theatre.

A New Season!

A NEW SEASON

Well, just a reminder that THIS SUNDAY, September 14th kicks off Springbrook's third year!

We did some planning for the upcoming year and are feeling pretty excited to be together again and to continue to do church in a way that is meaningful for us.

Last night we talked about our outlook for this coming year and have decided to focus on some of the stuff Graham taught us on the Sunday he was with us. He shared about the power of 'UN-learning' things and replacing those things with biblical, Holy Spirit breathed truth. We want to not be defined by our past failures and disappointments but instead by the person who we want to be. And instead of being past-present, we need to be people who are present-future. We desire as a church and as individuals to look to how God sees us and to put off the 'old you' so that the 'new you' can come.

Many of us have been exhausted, pulling away the layers over the last few years and talking in-depth about what we DON'T want to be. But that season has ended and many of us have found ourselves stripped down to the fundamentals. We are now ready to build back up. If we are not defined but what we DON'T want to be, we give God a chance to move in and define us by what He DOES want us to be. And the journey ahead of us is to be enjoyed.

We are also going to change up our learning style a bit to keep things interesting. For this next season all of our teaching will have a strongly interactive and discussion based format. It's an opportunity to learn from one another about what God is doing and what He is calling us to. We are also going to change from doing 'missional moments' to doing a component of group prayer and seeking God as a body.

In addition to this we have some fantastic new Sunday School curriculum for the whole year, developed by Sara Hawthorne that is going to work on fun, teaching and crafts that we are
pretty excited about!

We have also planned some tentative fun things, get togethers and meals together so we really look forward to the energy and opportunity that this new year brings.

If you haven't already got an email from me about helping out with a Sunday or an event, expect one soon. It will really require everyone's help to be a success.

So, this Sunday kicks it off. 10 am at Township Hall. Look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Back at It!

Hi All-

I guess our summer break extended into the blogging world too as it has been quite some time since our last post!

Our summer has been full, busy and a lot of fun. But I think we are looking forward to getting back to life, back to reality and back to church. I hope you are too!

A few pieces of news: Springbrook's own Heidi Cave has started a BLOG (I know- she is so cool)! And it's really fantastic, so check it out. It can be found here. Fee free to share it with family and friends, it's great.

Also, the Caves have agreed to host a 'End of Summer' campfire and marshmallow roast for anyone who wants to come on Sunday, Aug 31, starting at 6:30. Kids are welcome (hence the early start time) and everyone is asked to bring chairs, drinks and snacks for around the campfire. Hope to see you all there.

Lastly, for anyone who is interested we will be having our first "Sunday Morning Planning Meeting" of the year at our place on Tues, Sept 2 at 8pm at Jenn and Jordan's. If you're interested in being a part of the plan, please come out to our place!

This week the Janz' will be hosting their first of two summer homegroup meetings. They'll be good fun, good discussion and good company. HG will take place Sunday, July 20 at 7pm.

They will not have a BBQ this week (I mean, who wants to compete with the Harris' bash of last week??) but have something fun planned for August (stay tuned).

We had a great night Friday with Graham Cooke, and raised more than $2,000 to fight human trafficking. Awesome!

Just a reminder to all that Graham Cooke will be doing a "One Night Only Conference" this Friday, June 20th at 7pm.

There are still tickets available that can be bought ahead of time online at www.grahamcooke.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, but quantity is limited.

Tickets are only $15 each!

In addition to Graham, the conference will feature Jesse Padgett and worship with Chris Janzen. We will also be taking up an offering to help fight Human Trafficking.

Relay For Life: It's Here!

Well, tomorrow is the big Relay for Life at McLeod Athletic Park (216th and 56th). Springbrook has met its goal of raising $1,500 -- we're at $1,700!!!

Andrew and Shabbir will have our tent set up no later than 6:30 tomorrow night (Friday) and if you're coming for the start, you'll want to be there by 6:45. Bring chairs, water, snacks, blankets, running shoes, cash, and anything else that you might need. We are located on the northeast corner of the track this year (away from the grandstand, on the outside of the track).

Come for as long as you can. Invite people to drop by. It'll be a good time. If someone has a battery-powered stereo, that would be good as well.
